Post-op day 155 / week 22.
Somehow I managed not to post for a month. That's at least a year in internet time. My thanks to anyone still reading.
I survived the holidays. The cat injured a front paw and recovered, then got sick and recovered. I got sick and recovered. My parents both got sick and have mostly recovered. Seatmate coughed for a day or two and recovered.
My grandmother got sick and did not recover. She hung on for a few weeks and on Sunday she died. This was not a surprise; she was 96 years old and frail. I'm sad anyway.
My grandmother was awesome. She was strong and funny, an unflappable New Yorker. She skied and skated and played tennis and raised two kids. We used to joke that she and my grandfather were bionic, because they just kept going; my grandfather played tennis into his late eighties. But time gets us all, and he died in 2008, two weeks shy of his 100th birthday. And now his wonder twin is gone as well. I hope they're together somewhere.
I have too much to say, and if I try to say it all, I'll never post, so this is where the story ends for now.
Moment of levity: I took a silly photo of a couple of Bruins goofing around on the bench during Tuesday night's game against Ottawa. I laughed, I posted it to Twitter, I went to sleep. I woke up to find it all over the net. I'm just waiting for it to come back as an obscene macro. It's the circle of internet life.

I'm so sorry about your grandma though. Even if the person has had an awesome life, it still sucks when they go.

And yes, exactly. My grandmother had a long, happy life, and I miss her anyway. (hugs) you.
